Kestin Cornwall - Just Drawing

Had an opportunity to set aside some time this weekend to just sit back with a sketchpad and pencil to just draw.  It’s been some time since I just drew for fun, working out some ideas for my upcoming group show.

Kestin Cornwall - Brendan Monroe & The Ministry

On Saturday, March 3, the members of the Ministry were invited to attend a talk at Cooper Cole Gallery from internationally exhibited mixed media artist Brendan Monroe.  His latest show, Observations of Light and Matter, opened at Cooper Cole on March 2, and is his first time exhibiting in Canada.  Jon Todd and I stopped by to see some of Monroe’s work.

Kestin Cornwall - Elicser Elliott: Toronto's Street Artist

Elicser Elliott has a few years on me but I grew up watching his work cultivate after being introduced to his effort by my good friend and fellow artist Martin Wittfooth. Martin Wittfooth, Jon Todd, Elicser Elliott and I all have one thing in common, we all attended Sheridan College. Jerome Jenner and I also featured Elicser Elliott in the 1i5 Studios T.O.P. Tour, that we held in Montreal a few years ago at the Yves Laroche Gallery.

Elicser Elliott, Toronto’s most recognized street artist, has been invited for a two-month artist residency in South Africa. “Dear Toronto” is a travel log project - Elicser will be sketching, drawing, painting, and more, with his city in mind.

Each day will be documented and compiled into a travel log that will be distributed digitally to all contributors. His journey begins on March 6th, heading to Cape Town where he will be based at A Word of Art as a participant in their residency program for 2 months (returning May 6th). Click, for more details.
